Duration of Assessment 2 Years, 4 Months ago
This from Dave Dyson:
"The current knowledge assessment is 4hrs. We find that is sufficient and means the trainees do not rush through it

The performance assessment varies. Sometimes you can cover two trainees in one day, and at other times only one. This is to ensure the trainees have demonstrated a comprehensive understanding. It also depends on whether they can actually access/operate a plant too. This is not always possible.

This from Geoff Bryant:
"I suggest this will vary hugely depending on the type of plant. For Delta Electricity 660MW machines the Turbine assessment (practical and written) has taken up to 11 Hrs. This is using a simulator and replicating plant conditions. Suggest time to be determined by assessor and advised prior to commencing assessment, i.e.;

1. Candidates should be able to complete the assessment in the time nominated by the allocated assessor, given local plant size and conditions. The proposed duration will be nominated prior to commencing the assessment and a practical maximum of 12 hours should apply, the time stated is a guide only. If a candidate cannot complete the assessment in the stated time then this needs to be considered when assessing overall competency."

Version 4.04 of the assessment instrument for Turbines will have a duration of 4 hours for the Written & Calcs section, and 11 hours for Performance Assessment. This is to satisfy SafeWork Australia's requirements that we put a nominal time_frame_ into the draft assessment instrument.
